It’s been 15 years since director James Cameron brought the spectacle and tragedy of the ill-fated Titanic to screen, but the film hasn’t lost any of its luster. Hollywood expected the $200 million epic to become a colossal flop, but instead it went on to earn $1.8 billion worldwide, make major stars of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, and win 11 Academy Awards. Only Cameron’s own Avatar was able to knock Titanic out of its longtime slot as the all-time box office winner. As the film celebrates its anniversary this year, Cameron has retrofitted it for 3D so that audiences can take a lot at it anew.
