It’s almost hard to remember back in the day when Johnny Depp made movies looking like… well, Johnny Depp. To say he’s gotten a little caught up in using makeup and costuming to create a character these days is quite the understatement. Matter of fact, Depp’s created one of the most eclectic rosters of over-the-top film characters of any actor working today, including his latest turn as Barnabas Collins, the ’70s-era goth vampire, in Tim Burton’s big-screen adaptation of Dark Shadows. To prove our point, Snakkle jumps into the actor’s resume to pick our favorite “out there” Depp creations.

Summer 2012 is shaping up to be fun for superhero fans. In May, Marvel’s The Avengers crushed all competition. On July 3, The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters with a new cast. Spider-Man’s first appearance was in Amazing Fantasy #15, published in August 1962—almost exactly 50 years ago. We don’t need to say “spoiler alert” to tell you that the wall-crawler went on to fame and fortune in multiple mediums, including the first Spider-Man movie in 2002.
