Before They Were Stars: Born to factory worker Larry Kutcher and Diane Finnegan, and raised in a small town with a population of 100, Christopher Ashton Kutcher was a wild child in high school and at the University of Iowa, where he spent more time partying than studying biochemical engineering. After being spotted by a scout in a bar, he entered and won the Fresh Face of Iowa modeling competition. But after a year of walking the runway, he moved to Hollywood to pursue acting. On his first Los Angeles audition at age 18, he booked his breakout role: stupid but smokin’ stoner Kelso on the sitcom That ‘70s Show.
Where Are They Now: While still starring on the successful series, Kutcher made the leap to the big screen. After a handful of small movie parts he starred in the crowd-pleasing comedy Dude, Where’s My Car?, in which he played another attractive affable idiot. A series of lackluster romcoms (My Boss’s Daughter, A Lot Like Love, Just Married opposite short-lived girlfriend Brittany Murphy) and one really weird but hit drama, The Butterfly Effect followed. In 2003, he added producer to his resume by launching and hosting MTV’s hidden camera practical joke series Punk’d, and became a tabloid fixture with his May-December romance with Demi Moore. Over the next few years, Kutcher was better known for his relationship and eventual marriage to Moore and his insanely popular Twitter feed than his acting projects. In 2011, he made a high-profile return to TV by joining Two and a Half Men after Charlie Sheen was fired. Soon after, his marriage to Moore imploded amidst rumors of infidelity.
Snakkle Snippet: Kutcher has a fraternal twin brother, Michael, who has cerebral palsy and underwent an emergency heart transplant at age 13.
Snakkle Buy: Buy That ’70s Show: The Complete Series to see this corn-fed cutie at his comedic best.
