Where Are They Now?
HOT GALLERY: General Hospital’s Luke and Laura Celebrate Their 30th Anniversary; We Look at Who Else Checked into GH over the Years
In 1981, daytime soap operas were still big news, and Luke and Laura's wedding on General Hospital was the biggest of them. The fictional nuptials of Luke Spencer and Laura Baldwin made a bigger splash than Kim Kardashian's wedding and divorce combined. (Check out this page from People magazine in 1981 to see what we mean.) When we looked at the list of folks who who have appeared on GH over the years, we found some big names. Want to know who? Take a look. By Brett Singer

Thirty million people watched Luke and Laura get hitched in 1981, setting a record for the most-watched daytime drama ever. Even people who didn't indulge in General Hospital daily (perhaps because they were at school or work) were aware of the wedding, which was big, big news. (Watch this interview with the actors on Good Morning America from way back when.) The television event is still associated with the hit song "Think of Laura" by Christopher Cross, despite the fact that the song has nothing to do with GH, according to Cross's website.

Oh, my god. I am so jealous that Canada gets this show and doesn’t share it with the US lol. I love WWII hisotry, especially the stories of the women on the homefront, and this show seems awesome. Your recap was hilarious. I totally forgot about that song from Grease 2 now it’s stuck in my head! 🙁
