Snakkle caught up with Close at the Television Critics Association press tour and got the scoop on how he snagged the sought-after part, and whether he thinks his character is the stand-up guy he seems to be, and so much more!

Full disclosure: We’re big fans of Frank Spotnitz. After all, he spent years as a writer and executive producer on the iconic ‘90s sci-fi droolfest The X-Files and rebooted the creepier-than-creepy thriller Night Stalker for ABC. Though Night Stalker was never really given a proper shot (marketing and time-slot issues), it made for some compelling TV. So imagine our delight when we discovered that Spotnitz was back developing a kick-ass spy thriller called Hunted, starring the lovely Melissa George and airing on Cinemax (go figure!)—did we mention it’s written and set in the U.K.? Snakkle was lucky enough to speak to Spotnitz while he was in town for the Television Critics Association press tour and asked him about working in the U.K. TV system, the genesis of Hunted, casting Melissa George (Alias baddie!), and, of course, his thoughts on a third X-Files movie.

FOX brought its new fall programming slate to Beverly Hills today so the media could soak in all of the new stars and sights. But above and beyond getting a taste of The Mob Doctor, Ben and Kate, The Mindy Project, Hotel Hell, and the newly revamped The X Factor, the network also provided one final Fringe presentation and a short slew of news and announcements overall. Here were Snakkle’s highlights:

It’s been a long year since Lauren Iungerich’s refreshing teen comedy, Awkward. debuted on MTV. We were introduced to a sweet, if somewhat sophomoric, love triangle in that of Jake-Jenna-Matty (come on, Matty was too image obsessed to hold Jenna’s hand in public; how could she pick him!?), an amazing catchphrase from an outside-the-box mean girl, and a mystery with a heartbreaking end. When the first season finale rolled around, things heated up when we learned who wrote the carefrontation letter and who Jenna picked as her boyfriend. And then the show faded to black for a long fall, winter, and spring. But season two is just around the corner, and the cast gives Snakkle five reasons to tune back into the show.

When Jermaine Paul auditioned for season two of The Voice, he became instantly known as “Alicia Keys’ Back-Up Singer” when trying to differentiate among the many soulful pop and R&B singers on the show. But today the Team Blake member is going by a different title: Winner. Snakkle caught up with Paul to talk about where he wants his career to go now that it is finally really just getting started.
