First they made music for us, then they made laws for us. More than a few actors have become politicians (including, you know, a former president), but they’re not the only ones: Musicians have a history of turning their passion to the political too. Reddy’s family history includes both performing and politics, so it’s no wonder that she found herself drawn to both as well. (Her parents were actors, and her grandfather was once a mayor.) In the late ’70s, California governor Jerry Brown named the civic-minded Reddy commissioner of the California Parks and Recreation department; she served in the role for three years. Now living a modest, “simple life” in her native Australia, she is a certified hypnotherapist and has been touring since 2013. Hear her roar, indeed.
