Looking Back
HOT GALLERY: Happy Birthday, Howard Stern! Snakkle Looks Back on the Reign of the King of All Media
Everyone has a theory about why Howard Stern has been so successful. Some say it's because of his honesty, his willingness to court controversy, to say just about anything. But the bottom line is that Howard knows how to entertain an audience. Whether he is hosting his daily radio show, which currently airs semi-daily on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, or judging up-and-comers on America's Got Talent, Howard is indeed honest and certainly says what he thinks. But he's not simply spitting out opinions or platitudes. He's funny, doesn't take crap from anyone, and puts on a show like nobody else can. On January 12, Howard Stern turns 61 years old, and if anything, he's even funnier now than he was on K-Rock or WNBC. Happy birthday, Howard! By Brett Singer

Howard Stern, Senior Year at South Side High School, Rockville Centre, New York, in 1972
Howard Stern's hilarious stories about growing up in the '60s and '70s have been a staple of his radio show for as long as he's been on the air. Although his years in Rockville Centre weren't quite as bad as the ones he spent in Roosevelt, Stern fans know that, for him, high school wasn't exactly The Wonder Years.

Howard Stern has always been a dorky looking idiot, who has not a whit of sense in his head! I have never understood how this asshole ever became a celebrity!
