Though her first big break came with the 1970 drama film Joe, it wasn’t until she played Martha Kent in the TV series Lois & Clark that she gained widespread recognition. Much like Jonathan, Martha was a source of motherly comfort for her son Clark, whom he often consulted whenever he was faced with various dilemmas. Notably, Martha was also the one who created his iconic Superman costume.
