Maniacal Laugh… The Muppets Is Now Out on Blu-Ray and DVD!
Wocka-wocka! The adorable Muppets reboot starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams—and, of course, Kermit and Miss Piggy—hits shelves March 20. Read our review of the special Blu-Ray combo pack below! By Erin FoxNot gonna lie, I was a little nervous about a modern Muppet movie. How could I not be? Kermit and Miss Piggy are the stuff of legends. Who could possibly hear “Rainbow Connection” and not think of the wistful but warm Kermit? Who could possibly hear “Hi-ya!” and not think of Miss Piggy slugging some jerk in the mug?
All of my fears were put to rest when I brought my family to see The Muppets. I mean, I guess I could just shower this movie with all of the expected praise: Its heart-warming story of two brothers trying to find themselves (see the amazing Oscar-winning song “Muppet or Man” for reference), as well as the story of resurrecting the beloved institution of The Muppet Show long after the last curtain fell on March 15, 1981. I could say that all of the songs, dance numbers, wardrobe, and puppetry paid perfect homage to the original show. But really what I want to say is: I cried four times and still have “Mahna Mahna” stuck in my pretty little head. Bravo, Jason Segel. Bravo.
As far as this amazing Wocka Wocka Blu-ray Value Pack is concerned, be prepared to not leave your house for days once you take the plunge. If you’re a DVD extra nut like I am, you will delight in “The Longest Blooper Reel Ever Made (In Muppet History—We Think),” a sweet and silly featurette called “A Little Screen Test on the Way to the Read Through” showing Jason Segel, Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, and Miss Piggy as they get prepared for their first day of production on the new film.
And those of you who “squee’d” with delight as Oscar winner Chris Cooper rapped (!) his evil plan to destroy the Muppet studios, boy is there a treat for you. Get set to watch “Explaining Evil: The Full Tex Richman Song.” ‘Nuf said.
And if you’re too cool to use the free digital download card to load the amazing soundtrack from the movie onto your iPod, well you just aren’t human. Are you?
