Teen Wolf Season 2 Scoop from Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal M. Reed, and Colton Haynes
Every smart showrunner knows to expand their series world in the second season in order to raise the stakes, and Teen Wolf’s Jeff Davis has done just that by not only introducing two big baddies but also a couple of other, seemingly less harmful characters to stir the pot for Scott, Allison, Stiles, Jackson, and Lydia. Snakkle caught up with the cast of Teen Wolf at the Paley Center for Media a few weeks ago to get the scoop on season 2. By Danielle TurchianoALLISON GIVES IN TO THE HUNTER IN HER BLOOD. “Her dad sort of puts her on this training course, and you get to see her training. She works with three different weapons, and she turns into a total Lara Croft badass!” Crystal M. Reed previewed Allison’s skills beyond archery in the second season of Teen Wolf. But thankfully just because she’s a sharper shooter doesn’t mean she’d ever take aim at Scott (Tyler Posey)!
THERE’S A NEW ARGENT IN TOWN. If you thought Allison’s dad (J.R. Bourne) was scary, just wait until you meet her grandfather, Gerard (Michael Hogan)! The senior hunter comes to town to clean up the werewolf problem and starts by splitting an Omega in two. It’s his declaration of war, and out of all of the “many creepy things [Scott has] to overcome this season,” Posey shared that he is most focused on the Gerard Argent situation, for good reason—he’s not a man who would hesitate to take Scott down if he knew his dark truth, regardless of how his granddaughter feels about him.
BEING THE ALPHA GIVES DEREK NEW SWAGGER—AND A NEW CHALLENGE. “He’s enjoying his new power—maybe a little too much,” Tyler Hoechlin explained. “Seeing Gerard, I think it just makes it all that more important for Derek to build his pack as quickly as he can. He sees what he’s up against, and there’s pressure. There’s strength in numbers, as we always say. There’s definitely a race to power at this point.”
JACKSON WILL LEARN A DARK TRUTH ABOUT HIMSELF. Though Colton Haynes admitted that Jackson is on a “roller coaster of emotions,” in part because of the way he grew up and the feeling that he had to be perfect, the werewolf bite he received in the first-season finale takes a toll on him, too.
“He wants to be the best, like Scott,” Haynes said, noting that this is one thing that isn’t going to come easily to Jackson and that failure will “make him turn into a maniac, I think. It’s going to make him want it even more than he did in the first season, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get the chance. If that means hurting some people, he’ll do that.”
WEREWOLVES AND HUNTERS MAY BE THE LEAST OF THE PROBLEMS. There is a new creature lurking around that no one can make heads nor tails of in the beginning because it is something unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. According to Reed, it is that unknown element that is the scariest:
“It’s looming over everything; it’s the major conflict this season that ties into the “why” people are acting weird…. It’s killing people; it’s killing our friends, and that’s not right!”
SCOTT WILL STAND UP FOR HIMSELF—AND OTHERS. “This season is basically about Scott coming into his own, learning to be the hero, and doing it—being the superhero that he wants to be,” Posey teased. And one way for him to do so is to clash with Derek when he feels something Derek wants him to do is going against his own gut. But another key way will be for Scott to become a mentor the way Derek was to him last season.
“Scott’s got a great heart. He sees these kids, and he doesn’t want them to go through what he went through. He feels bad for them; he genuinely feels bad, so he wants to help them, wants to protect them from Derek and all of these other people, but he also wants to protect Allison, and Stiles, and his mom, and it’s a very complicated season for Scott!”
Teen Wolf returns on June 3, 2012, after the MTV Movie Awards and then concludes the second half of its second-season premiere on June 4 in its regular 10 p.m. time slot.
