VIDEO: Bryan Cranston Before He Became a Breaking Bad-Ass
The intensely raw, and magically horrific "Breaking Bad" returned to AMC for its final season on August 11th, 2013 and Snakkle has uncovered the series' Emmy-winning star Bryan Cranston in some epically '80s videos. By Erin FoxComments
Bryan Cranston stunned TV viewers—who knew him from the broad Fox comedy Malcolm in the Middle—with his raw, gritty, deeply intense performance as the dying chemistry teacher turned meth kingpin on Breaking Bad.
We dug around YouTube and found that Mr. Cranston had quite the knack for plugging products as an “everyman” back in the ’80s. Check out the above hilariously serious commercial for Coffee-Mate in 1988, where Cranston exclaimed, “I never thought I’d like it!” But, you guessed it, he ended up switching to Coffee-Mate. And so did we. Right?
His portrayal of Walter White has earned Cranston three Emmy awards and endless critics’ kudos. His new notoriety even landed him a movie gig opposite Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks in Larry Crowne. Not bad for a guy that got killed in the first five minutes of this Matlock episode back in 1991.
Thank goodness for Shield soap! Without this commercial, poor “Harry” (Cranston circa 1987) would still be walking around in a giant skunk suit after his generic soap couldn’t do the job.
Don’t forget to tune in to the final season of Breaking Bad every Sunday night at 10/9c on AMC.
