10 Years After the First Spider-Man Movie, It’s Time for a Reboot
Summer 2012 is shaping up to be fun for superhero fans. In May, Marvel's The Avengers crushed all competition. On July 3, The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters with a new cast. Spider-Man's first appearance was in Amazing Fantasy #15, published in August 1962—almost exactly 50 years ago. We don't need to say "spoiler alert" to tell you that the wall-crawler went on to fame and fortune in multiple mediums, including the first Spider-Man movie in 2002. Will this latest group of actors be as amazing as before? Read on, true believer. By Brett Singer

Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Since it’s in the new Amazing trailer, we don’t mind telling you that Curt Connors turns into a reptilian super-villain called the Lizard. Dr. Connors was previously played by Dylan Baker in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), but he never took the leap from science professor to big-time bad guy. This time around, Dr. Connors is clearly embracing his scaly side, and also has some sort of shadowy connection to Peter Parker’s parents. Plus he works at OSCORP, the company owned by Norman Osborn. So maybe we will get a Green Goblin at some point in the future. Based on what we’ve seen so far, Ifans looks like a sufficiently scary super-villain.
