Where Are They Now?
HOT GALLERY: The Stars of My Girl—Where Are They Now?
"Vada. I'm embalming my high school teacher. Don't sing." That line, from the trailer for My Girl (1991), was the first hint that this movie was destined to become a classic. My Girl belongs to the pre-grunge '90s, when sincerity was still more common than irony. Yes, the film was set in the summer of 1972. But now that we're in 2011, doesn't 1991 feel like a more innocent time? It's been 20 years since My Girl charmed us all into submission. Where have all the actors gone? Let's find out. Jamie Lee Curtis (Shelly DeVoto)
Like Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis was already a big star when she made My Girl—heck, she had been in Halloween I (1978), II (1981), and had an uncredited cameo in III (1982). Anyone who wasn’t already a Curtis fan after her hilarious roles in Trading Places (1983; opposite Mr. Aykroyd) and A Fish Called Wanda (1988) probably became one after this movie, in which she played the mortuary makeup artist Shelly DeVoto who fell for Vada’s funeral director father.
